We’ll host one to two video calls before departure so everyone can meet the group, ask questions, and get ready for the adventure ahead.
Day 1 - Arrival in Cairo, Egypt

Touch down in Cairo and let the city’s noise and color wash over you the moment you step outside. A representative will meet you pre-immigration to zip you through the full international arrival process like a VIP. A private transfer takes you to the hotel, where you’ll have time to settle in before the group gathers tonight for a welcome dinner on the Nile River — introductions, a few laughs, and the first taste of what’s ahead.

Day 2 - Guided Tour of the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx

Nothing quite prepares you for standing at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, a structure that stood taller than anything else built by human hands for nearly 4,000 years. Explore the Giza Plateau, come face to face with the Great Sphinx, and, if you choose, venture inside the pyramid itself to the King’s Chamber. This evening is open for an optional stroll through El Moez Street, Cairo’s medieval avenue of lit minarets and centuries-old architecture.

Day 3 - Grand Egyptian Museum Tour

Spend the day inside the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest archaeological museum on earth, purpose-built to house Egypt’s greatest treasures. The complete Tutankhamun collection, more than 5,000 pieces including his golden death mask, is displayed together for the first time in history. Give yourself the whole day here; you’ll want it. This evening is yours to spend as you like.

Day 4 - Flight to Aswan and Nile Yacht Embarkation

Fly south to Aswan, Egypt’s southernmost city, and step onto a boat bound for Philae Temple, an island sanctuary dedicated to Isis that was relocated stone by stone to save it from the rising Nile. By afternoon, you’ll board your private Dahabeya yacht, your floating home for the next five nights, and settle into a rhythm of travel that hasn’t changed in a hundred years.

Day 5 - Kom Ombo Temple and Nile Village Excursions

Wake up already sailing. Today brings three stops found on almost no other itinerary: the quiet island village of Bassau, the ancient sandstone quarry at El Silsila where workers’ graffiti still marks the cliffs, and Kom Ombo, a rare double temple dedicated to two gods at once. As the sun sets, the crew sets up a BBQ picnic on the shores of Herbiab Island.

Day 6 - Edfu Temple, the Best-Preserved Temple in Egypt

Spend the morning at the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the best-preserved temple in the country and the clearest picture you’ll get of how these sanctuaries actually functioned in ancient times. With just one stop on today’s agenda, the rest of the day is yours to slow all the way down — stretched out on deck, watching the riverbank drift by, letting the pace of the boat become the pace of you. Tonight, local musicians join the group for a celebration on Ramady Island.

Day 7 - Temple of Khnum in Esna and Sailing to Luxor

Sail north through the Esna lock and step into town for the Temple of Khnum, a Ptolemaic sanctuary only fully excavated in the 2000s and still covered in vivid, original color. From there, the Dahabeya continues toward Luxor, arriving by evening and docking for the next two nights.

Day 8 - Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride and Valley of the Kings

Rise before the sun for a hot air balloon ride over Luxor’s West Bank, watching the Valley of the Kings and the Nile emerge in gold light below. Back on the ground, descend into the tombs of Tutankhamun and Ramesses V and VI, walk the terraces of Hatshepsut’s Mortuary Temple, and stand before the towering Colossi of Memnon. As night falls, visit Luxor Temple lit against the dark sky.

Day 9 - Karnak Temple and Flight to Cairo

Disembark the Dahabeya this morning and spend your final Luxor hours at Karnak, the largest religious complex ever built, 134 columns in the Hypostyle Hall alone, some over 70 feet tall. From here, fly back to Cairo for a farewell dinner and one last toast to the trip.

Safety is a topic I take seriously on every trip, and it deserves a real answer — not a vague reassurance.

This is the exact same trip, run with the exact same local partners, that Pivot Trip led in May of 2026. Nothing here is untested. The hotels, the boat crew, the drivers, and the guides all know this group and know how this trip runs, because they’ve already done it once. That track record matters. Traveling as a fully private group, separate from any other tour, means you’re never blending in with strangers or waiting on someone else’s schedule. The boat’s crew and staff are highly trained, genuinely warm, and thoroughly professional, and by every account they loved having this group aboard the first time around. Egypt’s major tourist regions, Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor, are well accustomed to international travelers, and moving through the country as a private group with dedicated transfers and guides removes most of the friction and guesswork that independent travel can involve.

It’s also worth addressing directly: Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan sit hundreds of kilometers from the areas of regional tension along Egypt’s borders, and none of this itinerary goes anywhere near them. Tourism is one of Egypt’s most important industries, and the government has continued investing heavily in security around its major sites and cities specifically to keep that industry running smoothly. Day-to-day life and travel along the classic Nile route has continued largely uninterrupted.

Egypt’s legal and social environment for LGBTQ+ people is among the more restrictive in the region, and that’s worth being honest about upfront. That said, traveling as part of a structured, reputable small-group trip, staying at luxury accommodations and moving as a group with a private guide, puts you in a meaningfully different position than the everyday reality faced by local LGBTQ+ Egyptians. Public affection isn’t part of the plan here, and discretion goes a long way. Within the group and aboard the private yacht, you’re free to simply be yourself.

The Heart Behind Every Pivot Trip

I’ve now visited over 100 countries, and it takes a lot to genuinely surprise me anymore. Egypt did. I led my first trip here in May of 2026, and I can tell you honestly, I was speechless. One night, moored somewhere quiet along the Nile, our crew set up a candlelit dinner right on the riverbank, and afterward they came down off the boat and taught all of us to dance, poorly, joyfully, none of us getting it right. That kind of moment doesn’t happen on a schedule. It happens when you’re a private group of twelve on your own boat, with a crew that’s decided they like you. Standing at the base of the Great Pyramid, sailing the Nile at sunset, walking into a 3,300-year-old tomb with color still vivid on the walls, Egypt doesn’t just show you its history, it puts you inside it. Having a private Egyptologist with us the entire trip made an enormous difference; questions got answered on the spot, and by the time we reached the temples in the second half of the trip, everything we’d learned on deck started clicking into place. Egypt is now one of my favorite places on earth, and I built this 2027 departure so more guys get to have exactly what we had.
