About Your Pivot Trip
-
Who leads your tours?
Every Pivot Trip adventure is personally led by Cory Calvin, the founder and owner. With a personal travel history spanning all 7 continents and over 100 countries, Cory brings a unique passion and expertise to every journey. This ensures a seamless, deeply personal, and unforgettable experience for our small groups. You’ll always have a familiar face dedicated to your comfort and enjoyment.
-
What makes a Pivot Trip special, and why are they premium?
Pivot Trips are meticulously curated small-group adventures designed for discerning gay, bi, and queer men. We specialize in all-inclusive experiences (excluding international airfare and some meals), focusing on luxury accommodations, authentic cultural immersion, and thrilling adventure, without the “party tour” scene. Our premium pricing reflects the exceptional quality of our boutique hotels, gourmet dining, exclusive activities, and the personal, founder-led service that ensures every detail is handled. We aim to provide unparalleled value and truly once-in-a-lifetime journeys.
-
What kind of experience can I expect on a Pivot Trip?
You can expect a balance of exhilarating adventure, deep cultural immersion, and relaxing luxury. Our itineraries are crafted to flow seamlessly, minimizing stress and maximizing discovery. You’ll enjoy hand-picked 4/5-star boutique accommodations, unique local experiences, and the camaraderie of a small group of like-minded men. It’s about authentic connections, exploring deeper, and creating lasting memories.
-
How active are your trips?
We meticulously curate each Pivot Trip to ensure a balanced and enjoyable experience. We like to ease into the adventure, allowing you to settle in and connect with the group, before gradually incorporating exciting adventure elements (like paragliding, canyoning, or desert safaris). While our trips offer a dynamic mix of thrilling activities and cultural exploration, we always balance these with plenty of time for relaxation and comfortable transit. Our goal is to avoid that “vacation from vacation” feeling after returning home. We specifically design the last day of each trip to be chill and relaxing, ensuring you feel refreshed and invigorated, not exhausted, when you return home. Most trips require a moderate level of physical activity, involving walking, exploring historical sites, and occasional uneven terrain. We’ll always provide specific details on the physical demands for each itinerary, so you know exactly what to expect.
-
How many people will I be traveling with?
Our trips are intentionally kept small, typically hosting no more than 12 like-minded individuals, plus Cory as your leader. This intimate group size fosters genuine connections and allows for more personalized, flexible experiences.
Who Travels With Us
-
Who else will be on my tour? Couples? Singles?
Our groups are primarily comprised of gay, bi, and queer men, typically aged 40-65+, who share a passion for travel, culture, and adventure. While we welcome both solo travelers and couples, many of our guests join individually and quickly form strong bonds with the group. Our inclusive environment ensures everyone feels welcome and connected, regardless of their relationship status.
-
Are your tours inclusive for all men in the LGBTQ+ community?
Absolutely. Pivot Trip is dedicated to creating welcoming and safe spaces for gay, bi, and queer men. Our adventures are designed with inclusivity at their core, ensuring every traveler feels seen, celebrated, and comfortable throughout their journey.
Trip Details & Logistics
-
What kind of accommodations can I expect?
We hand-select luxury 4/5-star boutique hotels and unique, locally-owned properties that reflect the character of the destination. We prioritize comfort, distinctiveness, and an authentic local feel over large, generic hotel chains. Our goal is for your accommodation to be part of the memorable experience.
-
Are all of my meals included?
Our trips are designed to be all-inclusive, covering most meals, activities, and internal transportation once the trip begins. While breakfasts are always included, we often leave some lunches or dinners open for flexibility, allowing you to explore local cuisine independently or with newfound friends. Specific meal inclusions are detailed for each trip.
-
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, travel sickness insurance is mandatory for all Pivot Trip participants. This coverage is essential to protect you in the event of illness or injury during your trip. Pivot Trip offers a convenient group policy that is added for our U.S.-based travelers. Alternatively, you are welcome to purchase your own policy. Your policy must include a minimum of US$50,000 in emergency medical coverage and US$100,000 in emergency medical evacuation/repatriation, or the equivalent in your home currency. Additionally, your policy must cover adventure activities (often requiring a special rider). Proof of adequate coverage will be required before departure.
While travel sickness insurance is required, standard travel insurance is highly recommended. This will provide broader coverage for unforeseen circumstances such as personal trip cancellation, curtailment (ending a trip early), and luggage loss or damage, offering you more comprehensive protection. Pivot Trip has partnered with Allianz Global Assistance to offer affordable and comprehensive insurance policies for our clients based in the United States.
-
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy is detailed in our booking terms and conditions. Due to non-refundable payments to our local partners, flexibility depends on how far in advance you cancel. We always strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance to protect your investment.
-
How does the booking process work?
It’s simple! Once you’ve chosen your adventure, you’ll complete the Trip Interest form found on that trip’s itinerary page. We’ll then send you an email with detailed pricing information. When you’re ready to book, just reply to that email with your preferred room type, and we’ll share an invoice with you.
A deposit is required to reserve your spot. We offer no-fee payment options like Venmo, Zelle, and Apple Pay, and we also accept credit card payments or PayPal. We’re happy to set up flexible payment plans to suit your needs.
Once your deposit is received, we’ll guide you through everything else. You’ll get essential pre-trip information, regular updates, packing suggestions, and final itinerary details closer to your departure. We’re here to help you manage all the details so you can focus on the excitement!
Safety & Planning
-
How do you ensure safety and an LGBTQ+ welcoming environment?
Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. As a gay-owned and operated business, I personally vet every hotel, guide, and local partner to ensure they are explicitly LGBTQ+ welcoming and inclusive. We also adhere to strict safety protocols, and I lead every trip to personally ensure a secure and supportive environment for all travelers. We aim for you to feel completely at ease being yourself, wherever we are in the world.
-
How do you handle dietary restrictions or allergies?
We do our best to accommodate all dietary restrictions and allergies. Please inform us of any needs during the booking process. We work closely with our local partners to ensure suitable alternatives are provided at included meals. For remote destinations, we may advise bringing supplementary snacks.
